SPECmail and SPECweb Benchmark Retirement

The SPECmail2001 and SPECmail2009 benchmarks will be retired on 31 October 2011. The SPECweb2005 and SPECweb2009 benchmarks will be retired on 12 January 2012. Any benchmark results for publication on spec.org must be submitted by the retirement date. Although the benchmarks will remain available for sale, support will be terminated on the retirement dates. Run rules for specific benchmarks may limit a licensee’s ability to publish benchmark results, as detailed in the paragraphs below.

SPECmail2001

The SPECMail2001 benchmark will be retired on 31 October 2011, and will no longer be actively supported after that date.

SPECmail2001 Result Publication after 31 October: SPECmail2001 does not allow independent publication (i.e. results are not allowed to be published unless they are reviewed by SPEC). After 31 October 2011, SPEC will no longer review new submissions. Therefore, no independent publication may occur after the benchmark is retired.

SPECmail2009

The SPECmail2009 benchmark will be retired on 31 October 2011, and will no longer be actively supported after that date.

SPECmail2009 Result Publication after 31 October: Publication of results with SPECmail2009 requires that an initial result be accepted for each location. (See: http://www.spec.org/fairuse.html#DefineByLocation) Testers who have been through this acceptance process may continue to publish rule-compliant results after retirement of SPECmail2009. If a test location has not had an initial result accepted and if the tester would like to preserve their ability to independently publish results after SPECmail2009 is retired, the tester must submit a result for review by SPEC no later than 28 October 2011. SPECweb2005

The SPECweb2005 benchmark will be retired on 12 January 2012, and will no longer be actively supported after that date.

SPECweb2005 Result Publication after 12 January 2012: SPECweb2005 allows rule-compliant results to be published independently. Therefore, although SPEC will not be publishing results, it is possible that others might choose to do so. Any such publication must plainly disclose that the benchmark has been retired. SPECweb2009

The SPECweb2009 benchmark will be retired on 12 January 2012, and will no longer be actively supported after that date.
