Anshu Arya was a key contributor to the seven-year SPECworkstation 4.0 benchmark development effort, contributing massive amounts of code, helping organize and move all the code to GitHub, spending endless hours on testing, helping obtain and implement code signing certificates, helping to coordinate various user interface and command line interface issues, and providing significant input on the benchmark’s user documentation. He took over leadership of the project as Chair in 2022 and oversaw the release of the first alpha build in December 2022, before transitioning to Vice Chair through the release of the benchmark in December 2024. Anshu maintained technical leadership of the test harness, and his design now enables any workload developer to adapt his modular and scalable workload infrastructure to their efforts. He also revamped how the committee scores and categorizes industry verticals and workload subsystems with the SPECworkstation 4.0 benchmark, which now better reflects modern workstation use cases, including AI/ML scenarios.
